Happy Independence Day!

July 4th is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays.  It embodies all that I love about summer: sunshine and water, picnics and barbeques, people and games, and best of all, fireworks!  Plus, it was really fun to have Bron home all day with us right smack in the middle of the week.  This is our first summer here in our new home, so we have lots to explore and plenty of time to establish new traditions.

Yesterday, we began our holiday by attending the Church breakfast.  We ate and talked and the kids played games and got their faces painted.  Some kids became a little paint obsessed and plastered their faces and arms!  It made me laugh.  Even Jed got in on the action.  It was so cute and fun to watch him!

After the picnic, Jed was ready for a nap.  Our afternoon plans fell through, so we stuck around the house.  Bron improved on the back courtyard while I read a book and Jed played.  Then the sun just became too unbearably hot.  So Jed and I donned our swimsuits and ran through the sprinklers!  Better yet, Bron set up the lawn chair for me right in line with the spray.  It felt so refreshing!  We also had some friends over for a barbeque dinner complete with dessert.  Unfortunately, Jed wasn't going to make it to the late night hour for fireworks.  We put him to bed and enjoyed our neighbors' mortars and bottle rockets instead.

What a Holiday!  I'm grateful to be an American and for all the rights and privileges that come with it.  I am truly blessed to live here.  God Bless America!
