Easter Eggin' 2015

Hippity Hoppity Happy Easter!

We celebrated a wonderful low-key Easter weekend with candy, good food, spiritual upliftment, and friends; all the things a good holiday is made of. We kicked off the weekend Friday afternoon with a slug of neighbor families for an Easter egg hunt. Despite what it might look like, the egg hunt actually wasn't madness. There were plenty of eggs and candy for all! The egg hunt was followed by a BBQ that lasted well after the kids' bedtime. Delicious food and conversation? I'm game! I think the kids were running on repetitive sugar highs.

^^Excited and ready for the big Egg Hunt!  This wasn't even all of the kids.  Lol.^^
^^Levi: "I got allll the candy!"  Indeed, he ate it completely gone by the next morning.^^
^^Jed super excited over his "special prize!"^^

On Easter Sunday we curled up on the couch to listen to LDS General Conference.  Truth be told, I totally fell asleep on the couch.  There were just so many good talks I couldn't possibly soak it all in!  Haha.  (Thankfully, I can catch up on what I missed online.)  Then that evening we had the Horsleys and Youngs over to share in a delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings and dessert that my thighs are still drooling over.  Connecting with family and friends is probably one of my favorite part of any holiday.  It was loud and the kids were busy, but I don't think I know what dinner is like without chaos anymore.  We are so blessed to live among so many genuinely good people we enjoy being around!

I love Easter.  I love teaching my children about Jesus Christ and the miracle of His resurrection; the miracle of love and mercy and hope.  I know I don't fully comprehend the Atonement or how to fully apply it to myself (that's what I'm on this life-long journey for, right?), but I am grateful for the testimony that I have that my elder brother Jesus Christ lived and died so that I might have the opportunity to live with my Heavenly Father again.  I am grateful for the love I feel everyday and that this sweet family of mine can be together forever.  Life is good and I owe it all to God.

  4. You seem to live in a great neighborhood with fun friends! That is a lot of kids. What a blast though. I hear you on General Conference. I may not have slept, but I don't know that I heard any more of it than if I had been asleep. At least we turned it on, right?
