The County Fair
Labor Day weekend brought us lots of family from out of town and piles of delicious food. (I'm talking fresh grilled peaches and lemon meringue pie!) We stayed up late talking and spent an entire day at the lake. How nice it was! But one of my favorite events of the entire summer occurred this weekend too: the county fair!
The fair celebrates summer but also signals the beginning of Fall--my two favorite seasons. I'm not sure why I get so excited, but Saturday morning I woke up anxious as ever to pack my bag with water bottles and pile the family into the car. Even Jed became enthusiastic! It must've been the electric atmosphere: the throngs of people, the smell of popcorn, the endless vendors and colorful displays, and of course the 4H animals. 4H is a big deal around here. The entire area is centered around Agriculture. (If you're not working at the hospital, in construction, or at the schools, then you're involved in some facet of Ag.) We let Jed take the lead through the 4H animals this year. He practically ran from stall to stall, pointing and exclaiming excitedly. And oh my, the looks on his face were priceless! Even Levi had a good time. It was his second trip and he was entranced by the animals too... because what else is important to little boys? It was a wonderful afternoon to be had by all.
Bron and I may be biased, but we think we have two of the cutest and most charismatic little boys on the planet. I love making family memories like this.
^^Scoping out the beauties in the dairy barn^^
^^Mama with my babies!
Jed plastered his shirt with free stickers. Best three year old fashion statement ever.^^
^^The boys were a little nervous to touch this giant horse, but thought he was pretty cool anyhow.^^
^^Jed staring at strange poultry^^
^^A PINK tractor!^^
^^Just being goofy^^
^^Bron giving Jed his first lesson on how to milk a cow.^^
You're awesome, Idaho. Oh, how I love our sweet simple country life here.
I love the pink tractor and that cow looks like its wearing a mask and a Dalmatian fur coat!
ReplyDeleteFun! We missed the county fair this year. I was sad. We were out of town. But I am planning on going to the state fair this week. I'm like you... so excited for fall!
ReplyDeleteThat great I love this type of trade that has so many fun things for the kids right?. We leave the routine. Kisses and happy last Wednesday morning Friday.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun. :) I'd rather go to a small town fair then a big one any day!
ReplyDeleteI love county fairs!! We just went to one last night, and I think the tractors stole the show. Lewie was so excited that he kept on kissing my hand and saying, "thank you, thank you, thank you." Here's to this very special time of year. Enjoy!
