Levi's First Christmas Ornament

12.12.2012

I'm not sure why, but I feel that a baby's first Christmas is special.  Levi won't remember the magic of his first Christmas, but I will.  Perhaps that is why I love picking out my babies' first Christmas ornament.  I found the perfect ornament for Jed at Things Remembered in our mall in New York: it is metal (read: indestructible) and engraved with his name.  I wanted the same quality for Levi.  Since we don't have that store at our mall here, I ordered it online.  I was so excited to unwrap it the day it came in the mail!  I am certainly pleased.  It's a perfect addition to our Christmas tree--just like Levi is the perfect addition to our family.  I can't wait to spend a first magical Christmas with you, Levi!

Our Cowboy with a Cell Phone

12.11.2012

Our little cowboy with a "cell phone".
(Jed put his boots on himself.  He felt so proud!)

Jed has three speeds:
1. Sleeping
2.  Fast
3.  Faster

Faster seems to come most often just before bedtime.  His favorite evening activity is running laps around the couch.
"Jed, it's time to get your jammies on," I say.
"No way!" he exclaims.

This kid is nuts!  He certainly keeps us on our toes... and laughing till our sides hurt.  We love you, Jed!

Give the Baby Some Food

12.09.2012

Friday, December 7th was the my night.  It was the night I got to taste my first solid food!  I was sooo excited!  I'd been displaying all the classic signs that I was ready for some real food: drooling, sticking my entire fist in my mouth, and kicking up a storm on Mom's lap as she ate.  I'm not dumb; I totally get this whole spoon to mouth thing.  I wanted to be let in on it too!

After my first bite, I was hooked.  Mom shoveled it into my mouth.  I swallowed most of it, but hey, I'm new at this whole solid food thing and some of it got on my cheeks and bib.

I was so disappointed when it was all gone, I cried!  But Mom said she didn't want to give me a tummy ache and refused to give me more.  She said I could have some more the next night.  Ahhh, I can't wait for dinner!

The Week My Seezter Came to Visit

12.07.2012

My sister Lauren came to visit!  She and her super cute little boy, Carter, made the trek via airplane all the way from sunny {hot} Arizona to rainy {cold} Idaho.  They stayed at my mom's house, so naturally, that's where my little boys and I found ourselves for a few days too.

We're weird, my sister and I.  Or maybe that's just my sister?!  Nah.  We try to have a good time whenever we're together.  I love having a sister: someone to laugh with, shop with, commiserate with, share life's stories with, and the list goes on.  I wish she lived closer!  Perhaps we will have to visit her in Arizona for some sunshine when we're pasty white and sick of the winter here in Idaho.  Yeah, that sounds divine.  Are you up for some company in March, Lauren?

Anyway, here are some pictures of our adventures... in instagram form because most of them are from my sister's iphone.  That thing is so convenient!

What we did for three days:

::  Played at the Kiddie Cove inside Wahooz.  It was hands-down the BEST indoor playground I've ever played in.  Yes, I'm an adult, but we couldn't get enough of the slide!  It was so fast!  Between that and pretending to play the arcade games, Jed was in heaven.

::  Shopped till we dropped.  Unfortunately, Lauren and I were disappointed with the mall.  (I guess that's fortunate for our husbands.)  We discovered that we are officially mothers: cheap and shapely.  Our favorite stores just didn't hold the same allure.  However, the Cheesecake Factory sure turned our day around!  In fact, I'm still drooling.

::  Played our violins together for a Relief Society event: Mom, Lauren, and me.  As soon as we can learn how not to rush, we'll go pro.  I'm so glad we share that talent!

::  Used our creative powers late at night to make gifts for "the grandparents".  They may have included miniature hand prints and an even tinier foot print.

:: Watched movies and played at home.  This is when the best stuff happens.  The following is for your viewing pleasure.  Apparently, cousins Carter Wade and Levi Wade can play Heart and Soul on the piano with their toes.  I can't believe that much talent belongs to one family!  It must be a Wade thang.

Love you, Lauren!  I miss you already.

And thanks, Mom, for spoiling us and letting us act like kids again.
Meals always taste better when someone else makes them.

The Heiskell Christmas Party

12.05.2012

On Saturday night Bron and I hopped on over to Jackpot, Nevada for the annual Heiskell Christmas Party.  Let's just say a babysitter (thank you Amy!) + red dress + sexy five inch stilettos + catered dinner + a dozen desserts to choose from sample + a silly photo booth + dancing = a super fun night out with my husband!  I love dancing with Bron.  We may have stolen the spotlight for a song or two with our spinning swing talents on the dance floor.  I am just as madly in love with Bron as the day I married him over five and a half years ago!  I love how that works.

Look!  Bron is actually wearing something PINK!  {Gasp!}  Enjoy, because this is probably the first and last time he will wear such a color... until perhaps next year.

Four Months Old

12.03.2012

::  A solid 16 pounds of pure mama's milk
::  Big happy blue eyes
::  Bath lover
::  Has the most expressive eyebrows
::  Fat cheeks that I can't help smooching on a gazillion times a day
::  Eats his fists.  He won't take a pacifier; skin apparently has a much better taste and texture.
::  Alert and smiley all day long.  His smile takes up his whole face!  I love it.  It takes quite a bit of work to move those chunky cheeks.
::  Loves to practice rolling.  Flip.  Flop.
::  Angel baby by day.  Nightmare baby by evening.

Dear Levi,
Please learn to go to sleep and stay asleep.
You're killing your mama.
Regardless, I still love you.  Lots.
Love Always,
Mom

::  Stolen my heart.  The love I have for this baby makes me ache--in a good way.
