The Heiskell Holiday Party

12.16.2014

Saturday was the evening of the annual J.D. Heiskell Christmas party held in Jackpot, Nevada.  All was exactly like years past, except this time there was no goofy photo booth.  *Gasp!*  I felt a little sad about that.  But it wound up being a memorable evening out with my main squeeze anyhow.  We ate too many cream filled desserts (Forget the salad and the meat.  Feed me chocolate filled cannolies!), played a card game that was essentially the adult version of Apples to Apples (Perhaps slightly crude but hilarious all the same), and twirled till we were too dizzy to see straight on the dance floor.  In other words, we did some fun stuff!

I am so grateful for Bron's great job and successful career that affords us the comfortable lifestyle we enjoy today.  Compared to our reality just a short three and half years ago when we were struggling dirt poor college students, our lives now are literally our dreams come true.  And I couldn't be more amazed, feel more blessed, or be more happy about it.

Holiday Partay

12.09.2013

Saturday night, Bron and I hopped the border to Jackpot, Nevada for the annual J.D. Heiskell Christmas party.  It was our third Holiday party with Bron's company and probably the most fun yet.  Maybe it's because we sat in the overflow room where it was less crowded and noisy, but whatever the reason, the conversation was good and the food was even better!  I ate some appetizers, lightly picked over dinner, and then devoured a plate full of desserts.  Who needs salad when there's cheesecake and chocolate mousse?  Then we danced like it was 1999... until the DJ finally switched the music to this century and we danced even harder.  However, our favorite genre has got to be a little country swing.  Bron is a phenomenal country swing dancer.  He spins me around like a rag doll and I love it!  It was a lively fun night out with my hubby.  I love him so much.

Not to mention... we got to drive Bron's brand new company vehicle: A 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ.  It's a NICE ride; incredibly quiet and smooth.  Merry Christmas to Bron!  Too bad it took less than 24 hours to make the floorboards smell like manure.  ;)

We are so fortunate that Bron has such a great job with this growing company.  Bron works long hours for our little family, and I am incredibly grateful for him.

The Heiskell Christmas Party

12.05.2012

On Saturday night Bron and I hopped on over to Jackpot, Nevada for the annual Heiskell Christmas Party.  Let's just say a babysitter (thank you Amy!) + red dress + sexy five inch stilettos + catered dinner + a dozen desserts to choose from sample + a silly photo booth + dancing = a super fun night out with my husband!  I love dancing with Bron.  We may have stolen the spotlight for a song or two with our spinning swing talents on the dance floor.  I am just as madly in love with Bron as the day I married him over five and a half years ago!  I love how that works.

Look!  Bron is actually wearing something PINK!  {Gasp!}  Enjoy, because this is probably the first and last time he will wear such a color... until perhaps next year.

The Heiskell Christmas Party

12.12.2011

Saturday was the night of Bron's Holiday work party.  And boy, was it a PARTY!  We dropped Jed off with an overnight babysitter (Thank you sooo much Adam and Alesha!) and headed an hour south to Jackpot, Nevada.

We checked into our room at the hotel and began our evening with some delicious appetizers.  I was a little nervous to meet Bron's boss and co-workers for the first time, but there was no need for that because everyone was nice and friendly and the conversations just started to roll.  I think I ate more dessert than dinner--there were just so many decadent chocolate goodies to choose from!  Then once the dinner plates were cleared, the real party began.

We all donned hats and boas and climbed into a photo booth for some goofy pictures.  The DJ kicked up the music and we danced the night away.  Bron and I have so much fun dancing together!  Plus, Bron is pretty talented at it.  I love that man.

Then, when our ears began ringing, Bron and I went downstairs to the casino where his co-worker, Butch, taught us how to play the game of craps.  Butch even encouraged me to bet a few of his chips.  I was on a roll, doubling and tripling the chips, until it was my turn to roll the dice and I lost everything on the table--a whopping six bucks!  It was fun!  Luckily, Butch still walked out of there five dollars richer than when he began.  It makes me feel less guilt.

It was a very fun, even much-needed, night out together (because truthfully, a girl can go stir-crazy all week at home.  And as much as I love my little boy, it's nice to have a little break; it makes me miss him.) Even more selfishly, it felt amazing to sleep in and enjoy a slow morning with my husband.

Thanks for a great weekend, Mr. Handsome!  I love going out with you.  We are so incredibly blessed to have found this job.  I am happy you work with so many great "real" people and that the company is growing and treats its employees so well.  Thank you for working so hard for us!  This new reality of ours sometimes seems surreal.
