December Shorts

^^Just happy to play in a big box.^^

A few short happenings from around here recently:

::  Funny Story: As I was teaching a new Christmas song in junior primary, I hung up a picture of Christ. There were some gasps and confusion behind me.

"You mean Baby Jesus turns into Big Jesus?"
"Yes!  Baby Jesus grows up!"

We then launched into a short discussion about all the miracles -- including the atonement -- Christ performed as an adult.  So that's why we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ... I might have to review this concept again next week.

::  Levi didn't go to church one Sunday or school on Monday. When Bron asked what was the matter, I answered, "Oh, Levi just has a cold and is being a little man about it."  Yup.  Levi totally let that man cold get to him... as he pathetically coughed over and over.  In his defense though, he did run a fever.  It was totally the right move to keep him home.

::  Disney+ makes Conrad cry.  True story!  Our little three year old is sensitive.  He cried when Pluto got kicked out of Mickey's house for making a big Christmas mess.  He cried when Dory didn't make it through the cloud of jellyfish.  He really truly empathized with these characters!  He wiped his red teary eyes and cuddled up close to me.  It was so sweet.

::  Bron and I watched a movie together the other night and I'm still laughing over this scene.  "All any of you do is yell at each other.  You are not friends."  "You're right.  We're family."  Bahaha.  It hits so close to home.  Not sure how we're going to keep these kids tamed for a few more days until Santa comes!

::  Jed is a morning person.  He is up with his alarm, happy and cheerful.  (I claim him.  He's totally my son.)  It drives Bron and Levi nuts to hear him singing like a chipmunk at 7:05AM, "Christmas, Christmas, time is near!  Time for toys and time for cheer!"  So there are two grumps in the house versus an oblivious nine year old.

::  Bron went to tuck Conrad into bed when he felt something lumpy underneath his pillow.  Bron pulled the pillow back to find all of Conrad's treasures stashed there: his wooden camera, a musical recorder, some cars, a giant set of plastic dog keys, and other items.  We laughed so hard.  Conrad is already surrounded by half a dozen stuffed animals, how was he supposed to sleep with all that?!?

::  We celebrated Bron's 36th birthday by going on a date with some friends.  It's been way too long since we've done that.  I miss it.  I love our friends; they are funny and witty and just great to be around!  We tried some new dishes at the Yellow Brick Café downtown and then headed on over to a new place called the Bearded Axe where we got to throw axes at a wooden target on the wall.  Bron was totally channeling his inner Viking.  It was a blast!  Happy Birthday, Bron!

::  Below are pictures from when Conrad decided to have a cookie picnic in his pajamas one morning.  It's just one reason why I dropped the ball on neighbor/friend gifts this year.  But it's okay.  I actually think this little man is quite wise.  He seems to know the path to happiness... cookies, duh!
