Rub a Dub Dub. Twenty-One Kids in a Chlorinated Tub.
Summer has officially arrived! Finally. That last week of school (okay, maybe almost the entire month of May) was a killer. Why do schools even bother to stay in session past Memorial Day? I'm telling you, it's dumb. The routine. The homework. I was ready to throw it all out the window because the sunshine, water, fresh fruit, and popsicles were calling!
I know I wasn't the only one who felt this way because all of us neighborhood moms were on board to the idea of a summer kick-off party on Friday afternoon. Dani kindly hosted the rumpus in her backyard. Everyone wore their swimsuits and brought water guns and towels. There were even some water balloons! And of course, snacks alongside an endless supply of popsicles.
The Young's backyard is the bees knees when it comes to entertaining kids. There's a play house and swings, monkey bars, a trampoline, and even a kid-size pool! At one point, we counted 21 little bodies in the pool! It was chaos. But the kids had such a blast playing that they hardly bothered us ladies. We actually got to sit and chat in the shade while periodically handing out more popsicles.
I feel so lucky to live where we do and to enjoy the friendships that we have. It's almost like a little utopia tucked away from the rest of the world. I really can't say enough good things about our community. I had no idea just how right a decision we made in purchasing our home nearly five years ago. I once said I'd never live near Twin Falls. Well, joke is on me because this is an awesome place to raise kids and I couldn't be happier about where I've been planted.
Now bring on the summer sunshine and memory making adventures!
It breaks my heart a little to think that this kid graduated from kindergarten! He's growing up and maturing right before my eyes. I'm really going to miss him when he is gone all day long at school next year. But so far he loves school and is thriving in the classroom, so I know it is definitely the right place for him to be. Plus, six years old is still an innocent and cute age.
^^What's a party without cake and popcorn?^^
This animated goober! I don't think anyone has the energy to keep up with him. I never see Levi wearing real clothes anymore. He's either shirtless wearing a swimming suit or in his pajamas. There is no in between. And he has the tan line already to prove it! But Levi sure melts my heart daily. This snapshot has got to be my new favorite of him.
^^Abram, Wyatt, Tyler, and Levi.^^
^^A little Addy-tude. Haha.^^
^^Piper ready for a water fight!^^
^^I'm not sure how sanitary that was? Oh well.^^
^^Our sweet neighbor, Ally.^^
^^Pretty Miss Hannah.^^
^^Addy and Rhett warming up in the sunshine with their popsicles.^^
What a blast! I'm with you on the end of school. I lost the motivation at least a month before school was out. I may have been happier than Hailey when the homework and routine stopped. Hooray for summer!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen so many children in one pool!! AMAZING! I agree with you--what is the point of having school past Memorial Day? We've been in vacation mode since mid May, and we even played "hookie" and went on vacation a few days ago. It's time to enjoy the great outdoors!
