The First Weekend in September

... we went on a family hike!  We couldn't let the the beautiful sunny weather pass us by on Labor Day, so we packed the kids--that's still strange to say; it's plural--in carriers and headed up a little trail in the Sawtooth National Forest just a few miles from our home.  (It's more like a forest of sagebrush.  The desert definitely has a beauty of its own.)  It felt great to be out in the fresh air and enjoying some time together as a family.  Jed even did a little "hiking" on his own.  He enjoyed a half mile of walking (aka. scraping his knees), throwing rocks, smelling little flowers, and making car noises before climbing back into the backpack to eat some candy.  Bron definitely had the harder job carrying Jed and all the water and snacks, but he's tough like that.  I think we'll be doing it again soon.
